Ride Day 14: Mulegé, to La Paz, Baja California Sur by Motorbike

Mulegé, to La Paz, Baja California Sur

Mulegé, to La Paz, Baja California Sur

My journey from Mulegé to La Paz took me around 8 hours with the first part of the trip spectacularly sweeping along the Atlantic Ocean. I was starting to get into the trip, getting better at packing and unpacking the bike, finding better places to stay, what and where to eat and no longer feeling like I had been through the ringer after each day’s ride. I left around 8 am, had some breakfast at the hotel, packed my bike and got going.

I was planning to stay in La Paz around a week but ended up staying longer. Once in La Paz, I had to organize my ferry for myself and my bike to Mazatlan, Mexico, so I knew this would take some time to arrange. I booked a place in La Paz called Leo’s Baja Oasis, which was a little resort type hotel/hostel in central La Paz.

Leo and his partner were sensational, even giving me a massive upgrade into the main house for my stay. The WIFI was also great, which was a nice change! I fell in love with this city, so much to do and see and all within a short ride. From La Paz, I need up swimming with Whale Sharks, Snorkeling, Fishing and spending some time at the beach. I really cannot wait to go back there sometime soon.

La Paz

La Paz is the capital of Baja California Sur, a Mexican state on the Baja California Peninsula. It has a lovelyMalecón promenade and some nice parks, with artwork by Mexican artists. In the city center, you have the Nuestra Señora de La Paz Cathedral and also a pretty cool whale museum.

The food there was sensational, and Leo and his partner pointed me to some of the better eateries in town. I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful part of Mexico, using the capital as your base to go to San José del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas and some of the other seaside resorts.

The trip took me from Mulege to Loreto, Ligüí, El Huatamote, Ciudad Insurgentes, Villa Morelos, El Centenario and onto my final destination in La Paz, Mexico

Today’s ride was just over 300 miles (489.00 kilometers) and took me around 8 hours with plenty of stops along the way.
