Costa Rica was another country I wish I had seen more of. The border crossing into Costa Rica was smooth and so noticeably were the roads. You could see a country growing up right before your eyes. The country has an abundance of natural resources, from the lush green pastures to the movement into green energy. The people again were fantastic and the food delicious. I didn’t want my trip through Central America to end. I spent only a few days in Costa Rica, but I already loved the feel of the country. The beaches were gorgeous and the mountain roads spectacular. I spent a few days in Jaco and relaxed on the beaches at night watching the sky play its tune. I walked the lanes and sampled the street food and just relaxed under the stars. It is a place I will return to in the future and spend more time in. So onwards I will go, my bike still suffering from front tire leaks, only a few more days and I will be able to get my KTM in for a much-needed service and repair. Only once I get to Cartagena Colombia I will be happy.
Just the two nights in Jaco, Costa Rica, saw me swiftly on my way to David, Panama to get to Panama City on the 18th. A riding day that started out just fine, that is, until I reached the Panama border and consistent torrential rain. Traveling just under 200 miles (316 kilometers) a trip which took me all up – over eight hours. Ouch!
After only one night in El Tanque Rojo, Nicaragua it was time to go to Jaco, Costa Rica on a riding day of only 230+ miles (377 kilometers) a trip which took me all up around eight hours. Even though I was early approaching the border at Peñas Blancas I encountered quite a lot of traffic and the usual hordes of “helpers”.
