After the drama of the day and night before it was time to head to El Cuco, El Salvador, which is a small beachside community in El Salvador and ended up being one of my favorite places, great hotel (below) and great seafood. I stayed in the off-season so it wasn’t so busy, but local fishing boats, smiling kids, made it a great stay.

It was only a short 105 mile (171 kilometers) trip to El Cuco, but I took my time, and after the complete balls up of my travels the day before, I didn’t want any problems. It was actually a great riding day, hot as hell, but nice breezy winding roads.

I passed through towns on my way to El Cuco, such as El Carmen, Las Flores, Zacatecoluca, Usulutan and onto my final destination at the Vista Las Olas Surf Resort in El Cuco

El Cuco, El Salvador

El Cuco is a quintessential beach with dark sands, lined with vendor huts, seafood restaurants and shaggy palms in El Salvador. I stayed at the Vista Las Olas Surf Resort which is a clifftop hotel, with amazing views. The service here was fantastic, the food was delicious and the WiFi was surprisingly good – could be better, but better than most hotels.

Vista Las Olas Surf Resort in El Cuco

The Vista Las Olas Surf Resort in El Cuco is a great small, well-appointed hotel on the beach in El Cuco and probably one of my favorite places I had visited on this trip. Great staff and incredible views. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, even cleaning my bike for a few dollars. WiFi was just ok and needs to be improved, but was stable and I could at least get some work done. Needs to be improved though. The rooms are well appointed and you have secure parking.

You can get breakfast included and meals were a mix of local and international. I had the whole hotel for myself the first night. I would have stayed longer but they were booked out. I got my room for $100 per night off season.

  1. I have personally visited there only one time in my whole life but I have an awesome experience there. It is a really good place for fun and tourists can enjoy some time with family and kids on their special events.
