Ride Day 75: Rio Grande to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina

Argentina, Ride Days, South AmericaBy Peter J RicciFebruary 18, 2017Leave a comment

Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. Yes, this was the goal for me over five months ago. Explaining the feeling, you get when you reach a goal, no matter how hard is difficult to explain. Riding into Ushuaia, for some reason, I got a little emotional. No shouting out yeeha or anything like that.

El Calafate, Argentina was again one of the huge markers for my trip. After setting off from Gobernador Gregores at first light, I got on my way for a pretty tough riding day on Ruta 40. After leaving Gobernador Gregores, I hit dirt roads less than half a mile outside of town.

I set off at sunrise to make my way to Chile Chico today in what was supposed to be a 2-hour ferry ride from Puerto Ingeniero Ibáñez to Chile Chico. Today was by far my most awesome riding day of the trip so far. Damn it was incredible!

Ride Day 68: La Junta to Coyhaique, Chile

Chile, Ride Days, South AmericaBy Peter J RicciFebruary 9, 2017Leave a comment

Today I headed to Coyhaique, Chile after spending just one night in La Junta, again, today was a mix of off-road and paved road to get to Coyhaique. The weather was not smiling on me today. But I cannot complain as I have had so many great days, just would have been nice to see more of the mountains on today’s journey.

Hornopiren to La Junta, Chile

Ride Day 67: Hornopiren to La Junta, Chile

Chile, Ride Days, South AmericaBy Peter J RicciFebruary 8, 2017Leave a comment

La Junta, La Junta, La Junta! After just one night in Hornopiren, today was a mix of off-road, on the ferry, off-road, on the ferry, off the road and then on the road to get to La Junta. I stayed one night at the Hostería del Río a few minutes outside of Hornopiren in a place on the Rio Negro. It was pretty run down, but the people were very nice.
